TALIHARJA VANAKURI
is a 101 km long winter endurance trek that takes participants on a long journey through a sparsely populated wilderness, where each participant is responsible for their own survival.
The 2026 trek will take place in southern Estonia, in the hilly forested areas of the ancient Ugandi county. The trail passes through several special and remarkable natural landscapes and cultural objects, and completing it gives a genuine and direct insight into the bright and dark corners of your own and Estonia’s soul. In addition to the 101 km main trail, it is possible to participate in the shorter approximately 54 km “Pehmo” trail or extend the trek by 25 km with the “Sõgeda Sõõri” trail.
RACE COURSE
The 2026 race course runs through hilly (not by mountain country standards) forests of Põlva, Tartu and Valgamaa. The exact course will be published by January 7th 2026. We held a query and the clear wish of participants (82%) was that the exact course stays secret until close to the event. Initial course concept can be found here.
Race center and finish is at Tartumaa Tervisespordikeskuses near Elva town. This place is also famous as Worldloppet Tartu Marathon ski race finish.
101 km start will be in Põlva county.
54 km start will be close to Maaritsa village.
