Empúries Marathon

L’Escala Town Council is organising the Empúries Marathon for October 24th 2021, with the support of the Catalan Athletics Federation. The marathon will take place in the beautiful rural area around the towns of L’Escala and Sant Martí d’Empúries.
The proposed course runs through a flat and picturesque area, in the beautiful rural area around the towns of L’Escala and Empúries.
The start and the finish lines are at the  Empúries Archaeology Museum  this historical and culturally. Empúries was the gateway of Greek and Roman culture to the Iberian Peninsula. This site preserves the remains of a Greek town – the colonial enclave of Emporion – and a Roman town – the former Emporiae – founded in the early 1st century BC on the foundations of a Roman military camp which had been set up during the previous century. A whole world to discover.
